Cleopatra is often credited with incomparable beauty. She had a proportionately prominent nose which has provoked historians to claim that, had her nose been shorter, world history would have been a lot different. She was known more for her wit and charm rather than her beauty and was more than good enough to charm her way into the hearts of Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony during her bid to stay in power. Here are some of the facts I was not aware of:
1. Cleopatra was Greek and not an Egyptian although she was the last Pharaoh of Egypt. She maintained her Greek heritage by inbreeding within the Ptolemy family who migrated from Greek.
2. She married her brother who was also her cousin but had no children from him.
3. She is believed to have taken her own life by getting bitten by an asp, a very poisonous Egyptian Cobra
4. In the Ptolemy dynasty, all the females were called Cleopatra and so she was Cleopatra VII and all the men were Ptolemy.
I hope someone will benefit by this 'useful' information.
